Miri Lee, OTD, OTR/L, is an occupational therapist and the founder of OTmiri.com, a website dedicated to helping students, recent graduates and new practitioners through education, community and inspiration. She has a psychology degree from the University of California, Berkeley and earned her masters and doctorate degrees in occupational therapy from the University of Southern California. The focus of Miri’s doctorate residency was on the role of technology and social media in promoting meaningful occupation and a sense of social connectedness in the community. Today, she is utilizing various social media and online platforms to bring together a global online community of occupational therapy students and new practitioners to promote meaningful engagement, connectedness, and support within the OT profession. On this episode of On The Air, Miri talks about getting her start on social media, all the way up to developing her website, and she shares advice for people preparing to enter the field of OT. Catherine Hoyt, OTD, OTR/L, is a founding member and serves as the Chair of the Coalition of Occupational Therapy Advocates for Diversity (COTAD). She is an alum of Washington University in St. Louis Program in Occupational Therapy and is currently in her third year of working towards her PhD in Rehabilitation and Participation Science. As a clinician, Catherine focuses her time on supporting infants and toddlers with or at risk of developmental delay and their families particularly in underserved or neglected communities. Apart from clinical practice, Catherine has developed and taught a conversational Spanish curriculum for preparing OT students for service learning experiences. She is also the owner of My Little Sunshine Pediatric Therapy in St. Louis, MO, and serves on the advisory board for Southpaw Enterprises with two designs currently in production.
